What we check, and how
A food supplement is not a medicine: nobody will ask you for a clinical trial before putting it on the shelf. That is exactly why you have to look at what can actually be checked.
1. The prior declaration
Before its first sale, every food supplement marketed in France is declared to the DGAL (the French food authority) through the Compl’Alim online procedure, under Decree No 2006-352 of 20 March 2006. The declaration covers the exact composition, the labelling and the claims used.
Zénith's declaration number will be published here as soon as it is assigned.
2. The certificate of analysis, batch by batch
The third-party laboratory that will test our batches is not signed yet: it will be named here with the first certificate. That certificate will cover:
- identity and content of each of the four actives, compared with the declared values;
- microbiological quality: total aerobic mesophilic count, yeasts and moulds, E. coli, salmonella;
- heavy metals: lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, against the limits of Regulation (EU) 2023/915;
- residual moisture and appearance.
The batch number is printed on your jar, next to the best-before date. Once the certificates exist, write to us at bonjour@tropik.so quoting it: we will send you the one for your batch, not a generic document.
3. Analytical tolerance
No production run lands to the exact milligram. The European Commission guidelines on tolerances for declared nutrient values allow a margin for added vitamins. Our internal specification is tighter than the regulatory tolerance, and it will be published with the first certificate.
4. The question of total caffeine
We declare 180 mg of caffeine per dose. According to our manufacturer's specification sheet, this figure is the total caffeine, including that of the guarana extract, and not just the added caffeine. The analysis of the first batch will verify it, and we will publish the result.
5. What we don't claim
We have not conducted a clinical study on this product and we will never suggest otherwise. The only claims we use are those authorised under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 and listed in the Union register, in this case those concerning vitamin C.
