What’s in a dose

Vitamin C 560 mg (700% of the reference intake) · Taurine 400 mg · Caffeine 180 mg · Guarana seed extract, which also contains a little caffeine: we are having the total content checked by the laboratory before the first sale.

The full ingredient list is five lines long: L-ascorbic acid, taurine, caffeine, guarana seed extract, capsule shell (pullulan). No other ingredient is declared, and there is no proprietary blend: every milligram is written next to its name.

When to take it

Two capsules at breakfast, with a large glass of water. Not on an empty stomach if you are sensitive to it, not in the afternoon.

Caffeine has a half-life of five to six hours: taken at breakfast, it is very largely eliminated by the evening. That is why the product is taken in the morning, and it says so on the jar.

The jar, and how long it lasts

60 capsules, that's 30 doses, or thirty mornings. Plant-based capsule (pullulan), gelatine-free.

French brand, based in Vannes. The contract manufacturer and its certificate will be named here from the first production run. The batch number and best-before date are printed under the jar: they are what let you request the analysis of the batch you have in your hands.

Who should not take it

High caffeine content: 180 mg per dose. Not recommended for children or pregnant or breast-feeding women, nor for teenagers or people sensitive to caffeine.

If you are taking any treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Before you decide

The questions people really ask us.

What exactly is a nootropic?

A nootropic is a formula designed for the mind rather than the muscles. The word isn't a promise and we don't make it carry one: it tells you which shelf you're on, not what is going to happen to you.

In practical terms, with us, it's four actives and four doses written down. The only effect statements we are allowed to write are those for vitamin C, and they are authorised in the European register: Vitamin C contributes to normal psychological function. Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

What exactly does “30 seconds” mean?

Two capsules, a glass of water. That's it: nothing to measure, nothing to prepare, nothing to wash up. The jar holds thirty servings.

Do I need to take it as a cycle?

No, and that's the main difference from the rest of the shelf. Mushroom or adaptogen nootropics ask, on their own labels, for a cycle of four to twelve weeks before being assessed. That's a long time, you have to remember it every day, and after two months you still don't know whether it was worth it.

Here there's nothing to stick to. You take it, or you don't. And the thirty mornings of the guarantee are for judging, not for waiting.

Why guarana if there’s already caffeine?

Guarana is a seed from the Amazon, Paullinia cupana. It naturally contains caffeine, in a small amount, which adds to the 180 mg declared: we are having the total content checked by the laboratory before the first sale. It's a way of providing part of the dose through the plant rather than through the molecule alone.

We attribute no effect of its own to it. No claim is authorised for guarana in the European Union, so we don't invent one. What we can show you is the figure; what we can't prove, we don't write.

I already drink coffee. What do I do?

You subtract. That's the whole point of a dose written down: 180 mg is roughly two café espressos. So on the day you take TROPIK, you don't have those two coffees on top.

The reverse is impossible with coffee alone: an espresso contains anywhere between 60 and 180 mg depending on the machine. You can't subtract a figure you don't know.

And in the evening, will I sleep?

Caffeine has a half-life of five to six hours: a dose taken at breakfast is very largely eliminated by the evening. A 4 pm coffee isn't.

That's why you take it early in the day, and why it says so on the jar. Harvard Health Publishing also recommends not having any after 2 pm.

Can you become dependent?

ANSES (the French food safety agency) writes that the risk of caffeine dependence is still debated among researchers. What is established, however, is that effects vary widely from one person to another: genetics, state of health, other consumption.

We won't pretend the question doesn't arise. What we can say: 180 mg a day is less than half of the 400 mg that the European authority considers of no concern for an adult.

What exactly is inside?

Four actives, with the milligrams written next to them: vitamin C 560 mg, taurine 400 mg, caffeine 180 mg, plus a 60 mg guarana seed extract, which also contains a little caffeine: total content currently being checked by the laboratory.

No proprietary blend, no “complex” with undisclosed doses. The ingredient list is five lines long, and there's nothing else.

Who should not take it?

Children and teenagers, pregnant or breast-feeding women, and people sensitive to caffeine. High caffeine content: 180 mg per dose.

If you are taking any treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. We are not in a position to do it in their place.

What if it doesn’t suit me?
